He studied to be an electrician at the 12th Vocational High School in Tallinn and worked as a car and taxi driver in Tallinn for many years, as well as a locksmith. Since 2002, he lived in Hiiumaa. Arno Liiver became known with the role of Arno Tali in the feature film "Spring" (1969, directed by Arvo Kruusement). Which was followed by his roles in the feature films "Summer" (1976) and "Autumn" (1990).
