Since she was two years old, Asri has loved dance. In 1989, Asri joined as a dancer in the GSP Production art group owned by Guruh Soekarnoputra . Her love of dancing inspired Asri to establish a dance studio called Sanggar Asri Welas. Asri's name began to be known since playing the character Welas, who is Bang Tigor's wife in the comedy situation Suami-suami Takut Istri in 2007. The success of this role made Asri use the stage name Asri Welas in various soap operas and subsequent films.
