He was born in Maui, Hawaii, USA and grew up in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture. He is a member of the music duo Da Bubblegum Brothers, Human Soul and Real Blood. Shin Koyanagi is the eldest son, and Tomo Koyanagi is the second son (both actors). He is 188 cm tall and has blood type A.
