Darby made the leap into explicit hardcore movies in the early 1970's as a means of earning extra money in order to support her singing career. A very fetching and accomplished actress in 1970's East Coast adult fare, Rains acted in X-rated features for such notable directors as Gerard Damiano, Radley Metzger, Roberta Findlay, Mac Ahlberg, John Amero, Joseph W. Sarno, Jerry Douglas, Kemal Horulu, and Lem Amero. Outside of porn, Darby also worked as a professional dominatrix. Rains retired from the adult film industry in the late 1970's and moved to the West Coast where she started her own green cleaning company.
