Originally trained as a dental technician, he began designing games as a hobby before pursuing it professionally. Teuber won multiple Spiel des Jahres awards, including for Barbarossa, Adel Verpflichtet, Drunter und Drüber, and The Settlers of Catan. The success of Catan led to the creation of Catan GmbH, which later became a family run company. His work had a lasting influence on modern board game design.
