In a career that stretched back to the 1960s, he played a lot of policemen in film and TV, but was perhaps best known for playing the hisband of Lynda Bellingham, the patriarch of "the Oxo family" in the long running television ad campaign for Oxo. In real life he was married to Carol and he died on 29 July 2022 in Spain.
