Michael Ruud (October 7, 1944 - September 21, 1999) was an American character actor. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Master of Fine Arts degree. He served as a sergeant in the Army from 1967-1969 during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Ruud found work in theater and film. One of his most memorable roles was as "Big Al Gateway" in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988), in which his character attempted to fight Michael Myers while protecting the Lloyd sisters. He passed away on September 27, 1999, from a massive stroke in Murray, Utah.
