Polina Vasilievna tried to help her son get out of the vicious circle by getting him a job at Mosfilm as a lighting technician. But the efforts were in vain - by the early 90s, after several “prisons”, Sergei became a recognized criminal “authority”. On February 11, 1995, Polina Shevkunenko was killed along with Sergei in her Moscow apartment.
