ActingAbout Taygeti
Taygeti was born in Athens and her theatrical studies include the National Theater Academy of Greece. She made her first appearance on stage in the mid 40s. Shortly after she was arrested for her left-wing beliefs, was imprisoned and exiled. She suffered tortures at the hands of her guardians but she never abandoned her ideology. After her release she continued to work on stage alongside important Greek actors and concluded her theatrical career as a member of the National Theater of Greece(from 1984-1992). She also appeared in about 70 movies usually playing the ugly old-maid. In her final days she seemed a lonely, unapproachable woman usually smartly dressed in black with her trademark hats and necklaces. A kind persona of a bygone era, dynamic and a bit crazy in a beautiful way.
