Who Is Sarkata?

Sarkata (literally "the headless one") is a headless male spirit who abducts women from Chanderi, inverting the premise of the first film where Stree (a female spirit) abducted men. Sarkata is searching for a powerful female spirit's head — specifically, Stree's head — to gain ultimate power.

The Final Confrontation

The climax reveals that Stree (Shraddha Kapoor) is not just a ghost who terrorized Chanderi — she has been its protector all along. The original Stree was a woman wronged, but her spirit chose to guard the town from greater threats. In the final battle, Stree confronts Sarkata. She defeats him by reuniting her own severed power, which Sarkata had been collecting piece by piece throughout the film.

Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and his friends — Bittu and Jana — play a supporting role in distracting Sarkata's army of abducted women (who are under his control), buying Stree time for the final strike.

The Revelation: Stree's True Form

Stree reveals to Vicky that she has always loved him — and that her protection of Chanderi was always partly for him. Their relationship is given a definitive emotional resolution: Stree cannot be with him in a mortal sense, but she will always watch over the town and, by extension, him.

The Post-Credits Cameo Sequence

This is the most talked-about element of the film. The post-credits features Bhediya (Varun Dhawan) arriving in Chanderi, followed by Jana (Abhishek Banerjee) from the same film. Most significantly, Amar (Ayushmann Khurrana) from Anek and Rooh Baba (Janhvi Kapoor) from Munjya make cameo appearances. This officially establishes the Maddock Supernatural Universe as a connected franchise. A final tease shows a new, unidentified entity approaching Chanderi.

Does Stree 3 Have a Release Date?

As of 2025, no official release date has been announced, but the post-credits scene makes a third film structurally inevitable.
