Critic Reviews for A Pipe Dream
Auteur Ethan Wayne Smith did everything but make the coffee for this unremarkable short film about his impending hook-up with his friend "Michael" (Taylor Petracek). Some quite revealing scenes illustrating the frustrations of having a flat mate - in this case the suspicious and cantankerous "Kathy" (Debbie Troche) - raise a smile, especially when he needs to pee, but otherwise it's just another one of these gay dramas about who wants to do what to whom - only to find that there is a compatibility issue. It's been made on a shoestring budget and looks very inch a student project that might fit in a series of shorts at a film festival but doesn't really stand out at all on it's own. Sorry.
