I did like the style of the brush-stroke animation on this short feature, but the thread was maybe just a bit too surreal for me. It’s all based around a couple who meet for the first time in a small café and whilst polite enough to each other, are soon lost in their own thoughts - which Alison de Vere has brought to life for us here. Like most of our thoughts, cohesiveness isn’t that important as they, independently, visualise an whole range of whacky things - including a knight errant riding his steed to the rescue of his damsel at the mercy of Satan - whilst nodding politely at each other and sipping their vin rouge. It’s quite a quirky observation of our own fantasies, this, and though I didn’t love it, it certainly doesn’t lack for imagination.
