Critic Reviews for Fixed
FULL SPOILER-FREE REVIEW @ https://movieswetextedabout.com/fixed-movie-review-an-animated-romp-where-identity-matters-more-than-anatomy/ "Fixed is an adult animated comedy that blends sexual irreverence with sharp canine behavior observations, supported by a pitch-perfect voice cast and a charming visual style. It could have easily delivered a richer exploration of its central theme, and not all of the risqué humor lands, but it makes up for it with genuinely funny moments and endearing characters. Like the dogs it portrays, it has clear flaws… and yet, it's hard not to enjoy it. P.S.: how is it possible that in the middle of such a wide variety of breeds, there's not a single Corgi? My Yoshi was pretty disappointed…" Rating: B
After seeing how much drama and hate the trailer of the movie caused on Reddit and in the YouTube comments for showing a dog humping legs and the , admittedly, crazy, idea of a "dog brothel" I really hoped the movie would be good to proof those people that love giving it shit because of some over-the-top humor wrong. And you know what? It is! Seriously, it's a really fun movie. Yes, the humor is very sexual, obviously. But in a silly kind of way. It's not porn, it's penis-balls-pee humor. What you see in the trailer is basically the "most extreme" the movie shows, and as long as you're fine with sex jokes, cartoon balls and dogs peeing, you'll be fine. What the trailer does not show you to its full extent: The movie has a lovely group of friends, each crazy in their own way, that love and care for another. It features a cute little romance, or, two actually, between characters that really love each other. It features outcasts standing up to uptight assholes and how silly some human behavior must look to non-human animals. So, yeah, there are dog's having sex, but it's in a silly, cartoonish way, not an explicit "Fritz the Cat"-porn-way. But if you are fine with that, or if you even like that kind of humor, you'll find a movie about an awesome group of friends where each of them has their own kind of problems to deal with, talk about individuality and self-worth. As said, it features some kinda cute romances and is one of the few movies actually having intersex representation voiced by an intersex actor. So, yeah, if you don't mind the "fucked up" humor, I recommend it! It's like Ren & Stimpy if they were more emotional. Or...maybe a REALLY adult version of "101 Dalmatian Street" if it had (silly) sex and violence. All the characters are silly and fun, I enjoyed it!
'Fixed' is, to barely any surprise (well, so I thought), utter tripe. It's somehow worse than 2023's 'Strays', which is the one impressive thing about this 2025 movie. These 'adult animated' films always fascinate me, like who the heck are they for? It's teenage humour for... grown adults?! Grossed out humour can exist, but I wished they'd stop stooping to the bottom of the barrel every single time... poop and sex gags, that's all they're capable of apparently - even when dogs are involved, evidently. Every inch of this film is just mind-numbingly stupid. Listen, I'm fully aware that I only have myself to blame. Despite knowing nothing major about it, the tiny knowledge I did hold made me know what I was about to watch. Yet I still chose to watch it, hoping one day one of these 'adult animated' releases will be worthwhile... Zero creativity here, proper lazy stuff. I simply cannot compute that people actually sat around and wrote this... they live amongst us, which is a scary thought! Those voices onscreen aren't much better, Idris Elba is the only one who is minorly OK (hearing him f-bomb is minimally amusing). You can have all this gross comedy, but at least surround it with a plot that's somewhat coherent and interesting; the gags should be part of the film, not it entirely. Lastly... gotta feel for Andrea Bocelli - they really be letting anyone use his music, huh? I've not checked how this has been received yet... surely not any better than from yours truly? *checks* y'all too kind. If you like this then fair enough, I guess. One of the worst movies I've seen, personally.
