Critic Reviews for Ju-rei: The Uncanny
Our film opens with some trends hanging out, and then it gets weird pretty quickly. On a mental note, it said our intro is chapter 10, and I'm not sure where that comes into play as of yet, but I think it's counting down. I'm enjoying the visuals and the cinematography being utilized. I must say that I truly enjoy the styling of the Death sequences, which allow more for our imaginations to freely let loose. From the scenes that have unfolded so far, it would appear that spirits are running amuck and enjoying themselves at the expense of the living. It rather nicely done, and I enjoyed the suspenseful feeling they were able to achieve in the filming. If you enjoy practical effects, then this film is just what you've waited for. None of the flashy "sell the gore of the kill" nonsense, but actors actually selling the scene.
