Critic Reviews for Seven Coffees a Week
If any film is ever going to warn of the dangers and pointlessness of gossip, it might well be this one. We start with two friends having a coffee and where he confides to her that he has the hots for his girlfriend’s sister (a lady who doesn’t appear to be horrified at the prospect). Before we know it, one friend has spoken to another and the confession has become corrupted enough for it now to be quite possibly his own sister upon whom he has designs. Extending from this round-robin of chatter, we meet another friend of a friend who is keen on trying a threesome but only so she can end up having her ménage à trois without the fella. All the while, there are chats about the differences between love, lust, sex and one even asks to borrow a house for a night of unbridled… The writing has a natural and quickly paced flow to it, and some of their discussions do cut entertaingly little close to the bone at times, too. Are any of those folks likeable? Well I don’t know, but the film is.
