Critic Reviews for Weekend Dad
A short drama that sees a dad (Tom Vaughan Lawler) finish his job as a butcher and then pick up his daughter “Romy” (Bodhi Rae Breathnach) and take her for some fun at the seaside amusements. It’s only as they head home we discover that mum “Cara” (Emily Bowker) isn’t best pleased…. There’s not a great deal of dialogue here, it’s more an observation of a familiar scene from any ordinary family that leaves us asking more questions than it answers about the characters whom we only fleetingly encounter. As a film, it is little more meaningful than if you were staring out of a café window watching a parent and child for a few moments before they drive off to their destination. There’s scope for assumptions, but I didn’t take much more from this, sorry.
